Will BJP perform a hat-trick?

KARNAL: Will he or will he not be able to perform a hat trick is the main question haunting BJP supporters in this Jat dominated constituency from where Kishan Singh Sangwan of BJP is contesting.

Sangwan is currently riding an anti-Chautala wave. But a lot depends on the over 7 lack non-Jat voters who are keeping their cool in this heated political battle.
1x1 polls
The non-Jat voters are keeping aloof from much of the political activity.

The over 4 lack strong Jat voters are divided into four candidates. Their divided loyalties are with INLD candidate Krishna Malik - wife of Haryana DGP Mohinder Malik, Dharampal Malik (Congress) and Jagbir Malik (HVP).

Sangwan has visited all the villages of this constituency three times till now. His main support plank is development. He pleads his case before voters promising more employment to the educated youth and harps on his social equation with all sections of society.

But Sangwan has not been able to evoke much sympathy amongst non-Jat voters excepting die-hard RSS-BJP cadres. INLD''s high profile Krishna Malik being a woman evokes a strong response from women voters. Her interest in women education in this otherwise educationally backward area is standing her in good stead.

She also hopes to garner votes of Jat community on the basis of Om Prakash Chautala''s development programmes in the area. But she has to contend with the anti-incumbency factor amongst non-Jat and employee voters.

But even though Krishna Malik is new to politics she has learnt the tricks of the political trade quickly. She is heading a well-oiled political campaign. Her plus point is that she is from Karnal. She is popular with the elderly "Chaudaries" and women folk.

Dharampal Malik was rated as an underdog till sometime back, but on the penultimate day of poll, he bounced back because of his aggressive campaigning. Dharampal has not missed any opportunity to attack the "autocratic regime" of Chautala and his two sons.

As voters of Sonipat area have always been anti-establishment. Dharampal is working on their sentiments to get a psychological advantage over his adversaries. Besides assuring more jobs, he promises to further industrialise Sonipat. Ultimately Khap politics will decide his fate.

Jagbir Malik of HVP rests his chances on the response to his meetings in Gohana and other areas. He also has visited all the villages of the constituency thrice. His hopes are pinned on the non-Jat voters who will be a deciding factor in the area.

<formid=367815></formid=367815>
